Samaipata is a European founders fund investing in pre-seed/seed-stage next generation marketplace solutions and digital brands, with offices in Madrid, London and Paris. In only 2 years since the launch of its first fund, Samaipata has built a portfolio of leading UK, French, Spanish and Italian startups leveraging on powerful tech, network effects and a strong brand to disrupt social commerce (21Buttons), the job market (CornerJob), the logistics space (OnTruck) and the medium-term rental market (Spotahome), to name a few. It recently announced its first exit, the acquisition of Paris-based FoodChéri by Sodexo S.A, with food-tech being one of the areas of expertise of the fund.

Firm believer of the power of network effects and brands, at Samaipata, Carmen covers the UK market and invests in early-stage disruptive marketplaces and digital brands. An entrepreneur herself, she is also the co-founder of a D2C brand for pregnant women. Prior to joining Samaipata, Carmen was an investor at Felix Capital, Series A and B thematic VC focused on digital lifestyle. Before joining Felix Capital, she worked for three years as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. Carmen moved to London in 2013, after having co-founded a citizen journalism start-up in Spain. She started her career in politics. One day she’ll buy a round-the-world-ticket and will take-off to see the world equipped only with her camera and a backpack filled with books and sea salt chocolate.

Crane is an early stage fund investing into enterprise and data companies for the intelligent era. Scott Sage and Krishna Visvanathan founded Crane after spinning out of DFJ Esprit in London. They have invested more than $150m over their VC careers and at Crane have already invested into more than 15 next gen intelligent software companies.

Scott joined DFJ Esprit in 2010 and led investments into enterprise and internet companies including Lyst, Trustpilot, Conversocial, Bitbar, SportPursuit, Datahug and Campanja.Before becoming a VC, Scott spent time in research, marketing, BD and finance roles at UBS, Smarkets and BVCA.

Beringea is an early stage growth cap investor with 30 year history, $675m under management, and offices in the US and UK (London). They currently have 60 portfolio companies, and they sign equity cheques of £1m-£5m or up to $15m if co-invested with our US funds.

The businesses in their portfolio range in size from £1m-£200m in revenue, and their industry leading investment saw 5 exits generating blended 38% IRR in 2017.

Beringea’s current portfolio includes Watchfinder, Blis, Chargemaster, Network Locum, Poq, Thread, Deepcrawl, and previous investments include Mergermarket (sold to FT), Fjord (sold to Accenture) and Steak Media (sold to Dentsu)

Karen is Chief Investment Officer at Beringea. She is responsible for setting overall investment strategy, as well as making new investments and working with portfolio companies through to exit. Her investments include Watchfinder, Thread, Blis, Monica Vinader and MatsSoft amongst others. Karen has direct start-up and line management experience, and she joined Beringea in 2007 from the Boston Consulting Group.

ADV are an investment platform, striving to provide capital and coaching to entrepreneurs and corporates. Their founding team all have operational experience founding, scaling and exiting global success stories such as Arm, AOL, Plusnet and TechCrunch. And by being located all over the UK, they’re uniquely positioned to help rebalance the spread of capital across the country.

As a co-founder and investment lead in ADV,  David has a large amount of experience of the European startup scene. For over 2 years, he was the Deputy Director for Wayra, Telefonica’s startup accelerator. Prior to that, he worked in mergers, acquisitions and innovation strategy, leading projects across the world for start-ups, technology and media companies. Having served as a mentor in 5 accelerators in 3 different continents, he has worked with more than 350 start-ups to help them develop their ideas and products into full.

Joyce Shen, Investment Director

Outside Tenfore, Joyce teaches data science at UC Berkeley. She was previously the senior global director of emerging technologies and corporate venture in the CTO office at Thomson Reuters where she founded and led the global emerging tech partnership program and the emerging tech venture fund, responsible for emerging tech research, partnerships, and corporate venture. During her tenure, she established product partnerships and built new products in data analytics, IoT, and blockchain. She founded the emerging tech venture fund at Thomson Reuters and made 11 venture investments. Before Thomson Reuters, Joyce was one of the founding executives and the global CFO of IBM Cloud Platform managing $1B P&L. She also spent several years in IBM Corporate Development leading acquisitions and divestitures exceeding $6B in total transaction value.

Prior to joining the world of Venture Capital, George has 11 years of experience building and running early stage businesses. His experience is fundamentally sales driven with a wide network having personally been mentored by the COO of SAP and former Global Head at Microsoft. Currently George is an Investment Manager at FOMCAP where he manages client portfolios whilst also managing the deal-flow, from initial meetings through to execution. George is married and despite being cash flow negative, he considers his wife to be his best investment.

Esther Delignat

Esther joined Oxford Capital earlier this year after graduating in business and finance from the University of Cambridge. Her role focuses on discovering and engaging with talented entrepreneurs, as well as supporting the Investment Team with the assessment of those entrepreneurs’ businesses. Previous to Oxford Capital, Esther worked in financial advisory – supporting both start-ups and corporates. She also has experience in B2B sales.
