Fem in Focus

An introductory workshop where we will cover the basics of CAMERA SETTINGS and EXPOSURE. The workshop will also touch on key elements of composition, and simple tips to improve the CINEMATIC QUALITY of your images. Fem in Focus especially aims to inspire and empower more women, LGBTQ and minority creators to get behind the camera and into technical and leadership roles in the film and television industry.

FAQs

Do I need any prior experience in film or photography in order to attend this workshop?

No prior experience is necessary. In the interest of making this introductory workshop as accessible as possible we will be starting with the absolute basics. However, even if you do have some experience, we will also touch on additional elements of lighting techniques and the creation of cinematic images.

What should I bring with me?

Bringing a notebook or something to write with is recommended. If you own or have access to a DSLR or other camera that allows you to manually control exposure settings, it would be helpful to bring that as well, as it is much easier to learn hands-on with a camera in front of you. It will also help you become familiar with your specific camera as we go.
