About the event

The speakers – Beniamin Mincu (https://www.linkedin.com/in/beniaminmincu/) and Lucian Todea (https://www.linkedin.com/in/luciantodea/) – will discuss the limitations of the current blockchain architectures, the areas that can be improved, what the future architectures might look like, and Elrond’s take on it. They will also talk about Elrond’s vision for a scalable value transfer protocol for the digital economy and a novel approach of using adaptive state shading & secure proof of stake. Last, but not least, they will cover the future of blockchain: uses cases and adoption.

Swansea Software Developer meet-up (SSDC)

This months talk is presented by the fantastic Chris Cundill and centres on “The Rubbish App”. Conceived at a recent #HackTheCity meet-up, the App has a vision to improve the user experience for digital interactions with Swansea council. Its first use case is to deliver a modern way to report fly-tipping; using just a few taps. Awesome!

The Swansea Fringe #Games Day

At this year’s #SwanseaFringe we’re bringing the fun to TechHub Swansea with a full day of tournaments, demos, board games, party games and more for all ages!

With exciting opportunities to get involved for the whole family, expect demos and competitions from local games developer Pill Bug Interactive, who will be bringing their most recent creations, including the environmentally focused games developed as part of their Climate Jam 18, as well as their (rather bloomin’ brilliant) ‘Intelligent Design: An Evolutionary Sandbox’ and ‘Cycle 28’ releases.

We’ll also have tournaments – with special Fringe’y prizes, naturally – throughout the day, which include Dragonball FighterZ and Mario Kart 64 leagues, drop-in console gaming stations also we’ll even also have drop-in boardgames for everyone to try out – a full list of which will be coming soon!

Aaaaaand just to top the whole thing off (for the time being!) we’ll even have an official Blizzard Entertainment Fireside Gathering for all you Hearthstoneplayers out there – did someone say “free stuff”?

The Swansea Fringe – Troy Boyz and The Ghastling

The Swansea Fringe festival returns this year to take over the city of Swansea. The 3 day festival will bring comedy, music, poetry and a whole host of good times. Friday night at TechHub sees live street dancing from Troy Boyz and Late Night Stories from “The Ghastling”  – good times are definitely ahead!

At this meetup you will be able to look at the task of optimizing network calls — in this particular case, OpenTSDB queries — and learn how using an Applicative interface enables us to design an API that’s oblivious to the optimization processes.
