Walking the Tightrope: Overcoming Common Startup Challenges

Join us for our first Founders Lunch of 2018, where we will be welcoming entrepreneur and innovator Dr Raminderpal Singh who will be talking with our founders about overcoming common startup challenges.

Tech startups face many challenges today – examples include closing early deals with enterprise clients, demonstrating true market disruption, and displacing adjacent competition. Dr Singh has been working on these challenges for over two decades in both the US and the UK (in small and large companies), and is a mentor at Startupbootcamp and Health Foundry

Key goals for the meeting are

1) learning about your challenges and

2) sharing specific insights on how you can succeed and grow rapidly, under tight cost constraints.

Dr Raminderpal Singh is a seasoned business development and sales executive, with extensive experience in small and large companies in both the UK and the US.  His passions include supporting successful innovation and business growth in early tech ventures.  Dr Singh earned his PhD in the semiconductor industry in 1997.  Over the next decade, he led teams building advanced semiconductor  technologies and data mining for semiconductor manufacturing at IBM. In 2003, he was selected by EETimes as one of the top 13 most influential people in the semiconductor industry. In 2007, Dr Singh transitioned to business development at IBM Research, where he initiated, negotiated, and closed several complex collaboration deals. In 2012, Dr Singh took over as the business development executive for IBM Research’s genomics program, where he developed and led the go-to-market for the IBM Watson Genomics Analytics program. Protractor automation framework

The meetup will focus on the technologies used by Protractor (NodeJS, Jasmine, JavaScript, TypeScript), the steps to take in building a Protractor framework, how to write simple tests and how to integrate with Mock-Server in order to isolate UI tests from API tests.

Sorin has 11+ years of testing experience, evolving from manual testing to test automation and QA framework developer, having multiple developed frameworks in portfolio such as: framework based on Python + Tcl used to test networking equipment (switches/routers); framework based on Java, Scala, BDD, REST services, database access used to test a complex software module; framework based on Protractor, TypeScript/JavaScript, Jasmine, MockServer used to test Angular websites.

About the speakers

Sebastian Cochinescu is a tech entrepreneur with extended experience in the media industry that has a crush on blockchain and cybersecurity technologies. He is also a PhD candidate on blockchain studies at the University of Bucharest and the CIO of CyberSwarm Inc.

Vlad Andrei is focused on the fintech and blockchain revolution and is currently working on a stealth blockchain startup as the founder of HighTechBlock – a blockchain/fintech development consulting firm. He is a Stanford alumni and has worked at two companies that were acquired by Oracle and Symantec.

Tudor Stanciu is working with top business law firms and has hands-on experience in dealing with the tech industry, as a bearer of several hats – lawyer, advisor, community manager and fintech/legaltech project builder. Currently he is building Fintech Camp and Digital2Law.
