About the event

In this workshop, Boris Hristov, the Founder of presentation agency 356labs will share their experience of how they created:

  • A personalized offer template they send to present their business proposals
  • A sales presentation that is delivered by them but actually led by the client

Boris will showcase not just the final results but also bring you behind the scenes of how those work and how you can create such presentations and documents for your organization too. What’s more, he will also demo similar projects he and his agency developer for companies like Deutsche Telekom.

June meetup: machine learning, blockchain and big data

Join us to learn how about how to productionize machine learning and get a perspective on blockchain and big data. RSVP here to save your front row spot on June 5, starting 18:30!

About the event

Usually a machine learning project ends at evaluating the model: Do we have acceptable accuracy? Good. Now what?! The value of a ML model though is making accurate predictions for the users, deploying and maintaining the model should be easy and automated. But how?

We will answer these questions by:
– preparing Jupyter notebooks for production as reusable code blocks
– creating an ML workflow
– and finally serving online, at scale predictions using Lentiq Model Server.
Along the way, we will use Lentiq, Spark, Jupyter, MLeap, Flask, Kubernetes.

Blockchains and Big Data play well together. One can look at a blockchain like just a new kind of distributed database and, at the same, realize that the trust minimizing assumptions present in these systems can unlock additional value for ‘regular’ big data projects – either by offering an alternative to centralized storage or by easing the process of providing data and training models.

Event agenda

  • 18:30 – 19:00 Registration
  • 19:00 – 19:40 Productionizing Machine Learning, Cosmin Pintoiu & Costina Batica @ Lentiq
  • 19:40 – 20:10 Technology showdown: database vs blockchain, Felix Crisan, Netopia
  • 20:10 21:00 Networking

Agile Talks #36: Cultural Change & Digital Transformation

Join us to discuss the main cultural trends in studios and agencies, and about successful digital transformation strategies. RSVP here to save your front row spot on May 23, starting 18:30!

About the event

The next Agile Talks event comes with the following talks:

1. “Cultural Change in Product Development Studios. What now, what next?” by James Murphy

“From what used to drive people (creatives & devs) to studios/agencies to what drives them now. What are the main cultural trends that studios and agencies need to adapt and build on in Romania and globally? How we can attract and engage the best people in development, design and product innovation?
The world of talent is very different from what used to be 10 years ago, even 5 years ago. What attracts generation Y and X, the new breed of remote digital nomads and super creative millennials to roles and brands has changed.
Fact – if the companies of the 21st century don’t consider this mindset and they don’t understand what employer brand is and how important is to a business of any size, then they will more than likely fail through a trail of mediocrity and lack of opportunity.
We’ll find out more together!”

About James:
James went from senior-level executive search in financial services to scaling and building tech-based startups globally over the last 15 years. With a people-centric career that has spanned through innovation in recruitment, personal funded startups and consultant for some of the fastest scaling platform businesses in London and beyond, James is now the Co-Founder/CEO of Squid40 and is focusing on a challenge culture based on uniting collaboration and empathetic minded professionals that have amazing startup ideas with inspiring founding teams.

2. “Digital Transformation from the Trenches” by Alexandru Bolboaca.

“In the past two years, we’ve been involved with digital transformation of European banks, working with all the levels in the organizations, from C-level and executive board, middle management, to product and development teams. We will share in this talk a few strategies that were successful and a few surprises we had.”

About Alexandru:
“Being deeply passionate about technology creation I am a continuous learner in the field. Between reading, trying out technologies and multiple programming languages, presenting and participating to developer communities and conferences, I have learned enough to write two books and teach hundreds of developers.

I love working with smart people who want to get better at what they do, whether it’s team work, communication, management or technical skills. I offer you my passion, my experience and my capacity to adapt to your needs.”

Security Espresso 0x1b

Security Espresso 0x1b, the promise of biometrics as authentication meets the promise of Hollywood movie hacking. Find out whether biometrics are a secure substitute for passwords, and how movies are ruining security audits. RSVP here to save your front row spot on May 22, starting 18:30!

About the event

The first talk investigates the feasibility of implementing a biometric key derivation system without storing the private key. The proposed key derivation system derives a key from user biometrics (single or multiple) and uses that key as seed for RSA. The private key is never stored because it’s derived every time.

The key is as secure as the biometric data, thus the system is susceptible to spoofing. This is the first detailed study of a biometric key derivation system under spoofing conditions.

As the tech required for surveillance advances, it’s no wonder that state authorities push for a greater level of surveillance. On the other hand, public representatives pull for preserving privacy, and more tech is created to protect it. We’ll explore together the intersections of these tensions in current debates.

Event agenda

  • 18:30 – 19:00 Registration
  • 19:00 – 19:45 Lavinia Mihaela Dinca, Ph.D. – Biometric spoofing in the context of biometric key derivation
  • 19:45 – 20:00 Break
