The Sensor Swarm and Understanding The Virtual Memory

Join us to learn how to create your own temperature monitoring sensors 🌡️ and to talk about Virtual Memory – the basics and advanced topics. RSVP here to save your front row spot on February 17, starting at 18:30!

About the event

We’ll take you through the challenges you’ll face when trying to deploy a large scale number of IoT sensors throughout a company’s working environment. From building, programming, and securing the devices, there are a lot of interesting details to work out for a successful long-term solution.

There are a few systems out there that do not use the benefits of the Virtual Memory, like some embedded systems which do not need isolation between applications, but for those that do use the Virtual Memory, the performance of the applications might be impacted by the overhead introduced by it. The second talk will tackle the basic concepts and a few advanced topics of the Virtual Memory.

About the speakers

Radu Andritoiu is a Software Engineer that’s been with Ixia for almost three years now. Radu’s work on multi-layered software applications for Ixia Network Packet Brokers has been remarkable. He’s got tech skills that span across Java, C and C++, and he’s also implemented a few Linux kernel modules.

Alexandru Ghita is a Senior Software Engineer that has been with Ixia for almost 10 years now. He started with .NET C# and WPF on desktop applications, both UI and middleware. Afterwards he moved to web applications on Linux, using Java (Jetty, Guice, etc.) and Sencha ExtJS. Alex is also familiar with databases, having worked for some projects with PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch. When he has a few hours to spare, he’s very much into gaming, electronics and DIY.

Cosmin Chenaru is a senior programmer and has been with Ixia for eight years, but not as contiguous as the Virtual Memory is. After two years of writing software for embedded systems, he realized that Networking and Virtualization is his true love. His passions include anything electronic with at least one transistor in it, playing video games and watching old movies with his kids (movies like The Terminator, Men In Black).

Critical thinking for entrepreneurship

The new year starts with a blast and a new Tech Startup School meetup dedicated to critical thinking for business purposes: better understanding how you make decisions, your business contexts, what influences you, why some actions work or don’t work etc. RSVP here to save your front row spot on January 21, starting at 18:30!

About the event

You will train this skill under the masterful watch of Radu Atanasiu. He teaches Critical Thinking for Business and Managerial Decision-Making at Maastricht School of Management, at Entrepreneurship Academy, online, on iversity.org, and in executive education workshops.

Radu is a business angel and the founder of DeBunavoie.ro – a volunteering platform.

Here’s his proposal for the evening:
“What are you counting on?” We’ll start with the famous question posed by Ilie Moromete, a question that is more pressing than ever. Then, we’ll identify the weak points of a business plan, in a practical manner. The Achille’s heel in most business plans which fail is represented by false assumptions that managers don’t even realise they make. We will train our sense of identifying these assumptions, especially for our own business plans, in an interactive session based on case studies, and the business experience in the room.”

Event agenda

  • 18:30 – 18:45 Welcome & registration

Crypto-trading

Join this Blockchain Romania meetup, to see what’s the role of trading in the crypto ecosystem. RSVP here to save your front row spot on December 4, starting at 18:30!

About the event

Trading is a perennial hot topic in crypto. Even since the first Bitcoin trade (10000 BTC for 2 pizza) people have been trying to figure out the market mechanisms that are behind any particular coin price. For this edition of our meetup, we’ll try to figure out
– what are the particularities or similarities between crypto markets and other “traditional” currencies and/or commodities?
– are there instruments (such as Technical Analysis) that can give insights into why prices are behaving in a particular way?
– is there anything that affects price except supply and demand?
– are the current price setting environments (i.e. exchanges) transparent enough in order to make the available tools efficient or are there nefarious activities that affect the said prices?

About the speakers

Armi Goldman – trader, behavioral and intelligence business consultant

Sergiu Draganus – founder of several cryptos (and non-crypto related businesses): CryptoCoin.PRO, GeoRanker, Swiss Crypto Exchange ( SRO/VQF regulated Swiss-based cryptocurrency exchange) and co-organizer of Romania Blockchain Summit

Regardless of the species, parents need to take care of their young ones, make sure they are not exposed to high-risk situations, and can always cry for help. It is the basic need for safety. Traditionally this was achieved by imposing restrictions on the playground area, having an adult or bigger brother around, and being in the reach in case of danger. New devices have come along, offering attractive features for keeping children safe: cellular phones with parental control features, tracking devices, and wristwatches with GPS tracking and phone functionality.
