In the last year (since the first deliberate BTC fork), but especially during the last six or so months, Lightning Network has got considerably better.

Although you won’t be debating whether it’s better or worse than other alternatives, nor if it will lead to more or less decentralization, you will find out: what Lightning Network is and what are its enablers, what are state channels and payment channels, what options you have if you want to run a node and how can one try and test it, what are some of the problems with it, and how can these problems can be solved with higher order solutions.

This session will be an overview of Eric’s career, from his beginnings as a tester to producing two DICE “Game of the Year” titles. The talk will include a detailed look at his production philosophy, where it came from and how it applies to all types of game development.

Eric will also have a segment on understanding time/budget/quality management and the soft skills of personality/team management. Finally there will be a discussion of his many failures, what he’s learned from them and how he applied these learnings to help his teams find their best creative selves.

Eric’s production portfolio includes Journey, God of War, The Order: 1886, Twisted Metal and the not-yet released Sky, by That Game Company.

About the event

One of the tracks in this joint edition will cover Apache Spark’s Machine Learning Library (MLlib). This is a library built on top of Spark’s engine which allows us to train, test, validate and operationalize machine learning models while working with lots of data in a convenient way thanks to its robust abstractions over data sets.

You can use MLlib to build product recommendation systems by employing both traditional ML techniques such as collaborative filtering, as well as more novel, deep-learning approaches which make use of Recurrent Neural Networks.
