About the event

A real life use case of Kafka, Airflow, Spark and Docker altogether used in building an internal flow of reporting.

The presentation will contain an overview (from the issues to be solved to the steps taken), as well as details about the components of the solution. It will highlight how eMAG integrates Kafka, Airflow, Spark, and Docker in a hybrid setup (internal and Google Cloud) in order to create a complete pipeline (from raw data to results).

About the event

Join us to see what ups and downs need fintech entrepreneurs from 3 countries to overcome, and what is their motivation to go further.

During the evening we will have 3 fintech startups present how they help people get easy access to money and make a smart investment, how farmers can get a finance for their fertilizers, seeds, chemicals, etc. and pay after harvest, or how they can help SMEs see how their financial situation looks like and plan their future actions and investments. 

The panel will be moderated by Oana Cosman, Online Editor @start-up.ro.

 

About the speakers and their startups

Pavel Novac is the CTO of Fagura, a P2P Lending Marketplace and General Manager at SensMedia, an IT outsourcing company. He studied Computer Science at Technical University of Moldova. After 5 years of experience in online media, 4 years ago he founded SensMedia, a team of qualified engineers that build web and mobile applications for media, advertising and fintech industries and also starting 2 internal statups: Zazzymail.com and DataMinerio. In the beginning of 2018, his team started to build the IT platform of Fagura, a P2P lending marketplace that connecting people looking for loans at a lower interest rate than the financial market and investors interested in a more consistent returns than bank deposits.

Mehmet Memecan, the CEO of Tarfin, is on a mission to help Turkey’s substantial agricultural population access affordable financing for all of their farms’ needs. He is the founder of Tarfin, the country’s first tech-based financing platform for the agricultural sector. After he graduated Georgetown University, Mehmet was busy overseeing the global trade of fertilizers at one of the world’s top trading companies.

Cristi Bârlădeanu is a Co-Founder and CEO of ThinkOut,  the online platform that delivers financial analysis and forecasting for SMEs in just a few minutes, based on the transaction history from their bank accounts.

Although you won’t be debating whether it’s better or worse than other alternatives, nor if it will lead to more or less decentralization, you will find out: what Lightning Network is and what are its enablers, what are state channels and payment channels, what options you have if you want to run a node and how can one try and test it, what are some of the problems with it, and how can these problems can be solved with higher order solutions.
