How to fund your start-up in the eyes of investors

Join us for an informal evening of education and networking hosted in partnership with Edge Investments. Our panel of investors will be discussing which funding options are right for your start up. Gain first hand advice from investors about what they are looking for, what their expectations are and what makes certain start-ups stand out from the crowd. During the discussion we will dive deeper into VC funding, Angel Investment and Crowdfunding, to explore the options that are available to you.

Joining us on our panel will be…

Representing Crowdfunding is Chris Rea, Senior Campaign Development Associate at Seedrs which is the largest pan-European equity crowdfunding platform and has been named by Beauhurst as the most active investor in UK private companies. It allows ambitious businesses in all sectors to raise capital (£50k to €5m) and build community through an efficient, online process.

Representing Angel Investment Networks, we have Marina Atarova from Dreamstake Ventures, the leading tech startup platform, with over 1,000 investors. This includes angel investors in addition to VC firms and family offices, looking to provide deep expertise and capital into emerging startups.

Representing Angel Investors, we have Rani Saad. Rani has built and invested in new ventures in the UK, US and elsewhere for over 20 years. He currently invests in deep-tech startups –individually and via funds– and is a partner in Silicon Valley-based Delta Pacific Partners, who helps startups enter the Asian market and scale globally. Rani also serves as a judge in Stanford’s Ignite program for innovation and entrepreneurship, and advises startups, funds and organisations (which have included the World Bank) on early-stage innovation.

Rani has co-founded or co-built four technology startups in Silicon Valley, London and Los Angeles, in addition to a $120M emerging-markets VC fund. He also launched new products globally and directed innovation acceleration (in over 70 countries) at Microsoft, launched cutting-edge fintech platforms at the Fortune 500 bank Capital One, and led venture formation at a leading behavioral economics entity affiliated with Harvard, MIT and Princeton.

Rani holds an MBA from Stanford and degrees in three engineering fields (Master’s in Intelligent Transportation Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Computer and Communications Engineering).
