Startup Weekend Bucharest I Fintech Edition

What is Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 3000 past events in 135 countries around the world.

This is the fifth edition of Startup Weekend Bucharest and the first specialized edition – we are working on Fintech solutions.

 

Who can participate?

Anybody who is interested in Fintech. If you have an idea on how Blockchain, Big Data, AI and other technologies can be used to solve financial sectors issues, come and pitch! Both industry experts and people with less experience, but a lot of enthusiasm can join and form teams around an idea.

 

How does it work?

Participants that have an idea, get 1 minute to pitch. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a co-founder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups.

HackDay #4

Join us on the 20th of April for ther fourth monthly Code for Romania Hack Day for 2019. If you’re in Bucharest, Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca or Iași you can participate in-person at one of the Code for Romania local community events. Bring your laptop, get connected and start coding for one of the apps that will change Romania for the better! If you can’t join us in person in one of the four cities you can always join us online and work from home or from your favorite coffee shop!

 

About the event

You’re a developer so you know that magic in technology needs skills, time and consistency. You can’t build the best, most awesome app overnight. But there’s strength in numbers and if we all work together we can work towards fixing society’s problems. That’s why we run the monthly HackDay, to meet and work together so that we can develop tech solutions for societal problems. We were the ones we’ve been waiting for!

About the event

To prepare for the fourth edition of Urban Talks, which will take place in Bucharest on May 10-12, 2019 (location TBA), UrbanizeHub is inviting all their partners and friends, as well as those who want to learn more about them and their initiatives.

 

About the speakers

Gratian Mihailescu is the founder of UrbanizeHub a community of passionate and involved people, with diverse expertise, people who want to change the face of cities in a SMART and sustainable way. Gratian has both national and international experience of over 10 years in the field of development, communication, public policy, and innovation. He graduated and worked in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, and the USA. He then became a fellow of the European Commission and worked with important organizations such as the World Bank, the Romanian Government or the Assembly of European Regions.

Alex Glod is an Online Instructor & TEDx Speaker For over 8 years. Alex has been working with leaders, marketers and professionals from the corporate and NGO sector to help them tell their stories with impact, to connect with their audiences, and to provide them with a memorable experience. He is an expert in Storytelling applied in Public Speaking, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. He has spoken 3 times at a TEDx event: TEDx University of Piraeus 2015 (Greece), TEDx Bacau.

ctrlHACKdel is the event where young talents in the IT industry, programmers and cyber security aficionados set out in a race to win some awesome prizes and get called the master minds of Emia’s and Security Espresso’s hackathon.

Dedicated to those under 25 years of age, the hackathon aims to test the young, bright minds of the contenders by challenging them to solve hacks in one support category (warm-up) and three main categories (web, networking and email). Each hack solved will move the contenders closer to one of the 10 prizes.

Google HashCode 2018 – Codette Hub

Sign-up with your team to take part in the global HashCode programming competition. RSVP here to save your place on March 1, starting 7:00 PM!

 

About the event

HashCode is a team programming competition organized by Google for students and industry professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The teams are composed of 2-4 people.

Codette is one of the hubs hosting the Online Qualification Round. Top scoring teams from this round will be invited to Google Dublin to join the Final Round of the competition.
