About the speakers

Cătălin is a seasoned professional with close to 20 years of experience in the banking and financial industry space. For the past 15 years, he has been involved with VISA Europe, currently serving as General Manager for Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, & Malta.
Mihai has been involved with several companies in financial industry space, including Banca Transilvania, Nextebank, and Deutsche Bank. Currently, he is a Product Owner at FintechOS, shaping digital journeys for banking & wealth management.

About the event

In this edition of the meetup, we’ll discuss privacy aspects and in particular how Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) can be used to anonymize and/or increase transaction confidentiality in general.
For this meetup, we’ll have as guest Bogdan Batog who will help us understand some of these concepts.
Bogdan is the author of “Scalable Reward Distribution on Ethereum Blockchain” paper presented at DappCon 2018 Berlin. He co-founded Sailo.com in 2014 and previously has worked with various technologies including signal processing, compiler backend optimizations or embedded apps.

About the session

You will be meeting with the innovation team who acts as an enabler & driver of innovation within the organization, to discuss more about your fit in the Catalyst program. What are we looking for:

  • You have proven knowledge in the area of expertise in 
    • Candidate smart experience – Customized platform to increase the quality of exchange between EBS and the professional community in order to attract more candidates for the company. As the main features, it should include learning opportunities, career recommendations, referral of candidates, all trough gamification.
    • Knowledge hub – Lessons learned information system with complex query options such as semantical, predictive, natural language and network graph view.
    • Smart document processing – Intelligent solution to reduce the time for scanning, recognition, classification of documents and storage of employees digital files
    • Early resignation prediction – A solution for identifying and predicting employee disengagement that could lead to resignations by leveraging sentimental analysis and artificial intelligence
  • You have at least one small product developed within your start-up
  • Your start-up can sustain a full product development (including infrastructure and support model) to be purchased by SG EBS in case of successful MVP within Catalyst Program
  • Your startup is registered as a company in Romania

 

About Catalyst

 

CATALYST start-up accelerator program embodies collaboration and innovation. This platform connects SG EBS (Societe Generale European Business Services) to Romanian start-ups, to harmonize the expertise.

 

How does your start-up benefit from the program?

 

CATALYST is a comprehensive 10-week program wherein the selected start-ups get to work on our theme-based Business challenges with guidance, coaching and mentoring from SG EBS’s experienced subject matter experts on Business areas.

Raluca is the Head of Payments Oversight Division at the National Bank of Romania. She is responsible for, among others, the supervision of the security requirements under the PSD 2 on payment services, such as access to payment accounts, strong customer authentication, common and secure communication, security and operational major incidents, security measures for payment services.
Alexandru is the Head of eBusiness at Libra Bank. He is responsible with the bank’s online business strategy and channel management and has been at the forefront of the bank’s digital presence for more than 15 years.

What is Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 3000 past events in 135 countries around the world.

This is the fifth edition of Startup Weekend Bucharest and the first specialized edition – we are working on Fintech solutions.

 

Who can participate?

Anybody who is interested in Fintech. If you have an idea on how Blockchain, Big Data, AI and other technologies can be used to solve financial sectors issues, come and pitch! Both industry experts and people with less experience, but a lot of enthusiasm can join and form teams around an idea.

 

How does it work?

Participants that have an idea, get 1 minute to pitch. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a co-founder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups.

These two programs enable RBI to work with innovative start-up companies in the financial sector and to offer RBI customers the best fintech solutions. By actively approaching these companies, RBI positions itself as an attractive partner in Central and Eastern Europe and offers fintech companies a platform to grow in this region. He is a fintech fan from day one and a frequent speaker at international fintech conferences.  

Tudor Stanciu is a fintech and legaltech community builder, through initiatives like Fintech Camp and Bucharest Legal Hackers. Currently, he is a co-founder of Digital 2 Law, a project focused on providing independent legal/tax experts with a sustainable and predictable path of growing their practices.
