Fireside Chat + Q&A with Phil Hutcheon – Founder & CEO, DICE
April 30 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm BST
We are delighted to welcome to our stage the one and only Phil Hutcheon, Founder & CEO of the super fast growing ticketing startup DICE, for a Fireside Chat + Q&A hosted by TechHub Founder and CEO Elizabeth Varley.
Having started his career in technology, Phil made a switch to the music industry in 2006 when he joined a then-tiny label called Modular Records. Phil built up Modular to be one of the world’s leading independent and influential record labels (home to Wolfmother, Black Keys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cut Copy, Robyn, Tame Impala and more), and subsequently they sold 50% to Universal/Interscope/Island Records.
Phil saw the rise of streaming, left Modular/Universal, switched to managing artists and created Deadly People.
It was during this time that Phil became frustrated with ticketing. Artists were playing venues for an agreed ticket price, only to find the final cost to fans was massively inflated with fees. Not only that, when the artists sold out the tickets were snapped up by scalpers at even higher prices.
Fans were being ripped off and no one seemed to care. Not only that, ticketing didn’t think about the fan experience and Phil saw a huge opportunity to build a platform in a industry that needs urgent reform.
DICE was founded in London 2014.
Revolutionizing how fans find and attend shows in major cities all over the world, DICE commits to a fan-first model through its anti-scalping mobile tickets and up-front pricing. DICE is now one of the largest ticketing companies in the UK and rolling out across the United States throughout 2019 with NYC and LA first up on the hit list.
The fastest growing live music discovery platform in the UK, DICE works with thousands of artists artists including Billie Eilish, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Disclosure, Bicep and more.
